ADOPTABLE:

When we intake a new Shiba into our program the dog is not posted until we have properly assessed medical needs and socialization skills. Some Shibas need more medical rehabilitation time than others. When Shibas are available we review our adoption forms for applicants waiting and then post adoptables at PetFinder

ADOPTION POLICIES:

Our adoptions are successful because we have a process in place that is dependent upon meeting the needs of both the potential owner and the dog. Not everyone can adopt the dog they choose, due to specific needs that are in the best interest of the dog, and will be honored appropriately. We are not looking for just a home... we are looking for the best home! Failure to do this will result in unsuccessful placements and may cause behavioral problems and the return of the dog. We match needs perfectly, or we continue to search for the right home.

To begin the process, you must complete the following steps,

Adopting a Shiba Inu:

  1. Read through our website and make sure the breed is right for you and your family. Everyone must agree to raise a Shiba with positive training.

  2. Read the requirements carefully. If a dog must have a fenced in yard and you do not have one you will be denied. If a dog must be adopted without small children and you have some you will be denied.

  3. Complete our adoption form. Once this is done, the form is forwarded on to us to review. We will then contact you via e-mail. We will ask for proof that you own your home, contact your landlord, and complete additional references, as needed.

  4. Schedule an appointment after 6pm during the week or on the weekend. Keep in mind we do not hold dogs so please set up an appointment as soon as possible.

  5. Meet the dog of interest. Pictures don't tell the whole story, and we like for you to get to know their individual personality. At that time we answer questions on what it entails to include the specific dog as part of your life.
  6.

We have the right to refuse an application for any reason. All rescue dogs are spayed or neutered before placement to reduce pet population. All adoptions include a contract of terms to meet that includes staying in touch with us. All adoption fees include a starter kit with a collar, leash, favorite toy, and treats. We expect our Shiba kids to become part of your family, with love, patience, exercise, a premium diet, and proper Vet care - and will accept no less for them!
